Collecting through Friday, June 18
In lieu of the annual “Kits for Conference” mission drive, this year LUMC will be collecting items to support local non-profits for a “Community Cans & Kits Collection.” The United Methodist Women and the Missions Team are asking for the items on the list below. Bring items to Wesley Hall and place in the marked bins.
- Hygiene Kits: 1 washcloth, 1 hand towel, 10 band aids, 1 nail clipper, 1 toothbrush, 1 toothpaste, a comb, bar of soap. Package these items in a 1-gallon ziploc bag. Content does not have to be strict as to count, or additional items. All items should be new.
- School Kits: box of 24 crayons, 6 pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, ruler, safety scissors, loose leaf paper, 3 one-subject notebooks. Package these items in a 2-gallon ziploc bag. Content does not have to be strict as to count, or additional items. All items should be new.
- Canned Goods: tuna, chicken, fruit, vegetables, etc.
- Dry Food Goods: cereal, oatmeal, pasta, rice, etc.
All items collected will be delivered to Duncan Memorial LUMC, in Berryville, on Saturday, June 19th, as part of the Winchester District UMC mission effort. The items will then be distributed to: Congregational Community Action Project (C-CAP) of Winchester and Front Royal (food pantry, clothing center, financial assistance); Bright Futures of Winchester/Frederick County (connecting student needs with community resources); Loudoun Hunger Relief; and other food pantries and agencies in the five counties that make up the Winchester District.
