In 2010, the Leesburg United Methodist Women, in order to recognize and support the higher education goals within our church community, established the Georgia W. Bange Scholarship to be awarded annually to a deserving LUMC high school student.
We honor Georgia, a former LUMW member, who was a dedicated teacher, an astute business woman, devoted public servant, and compassionate counselor to so many in our community. Georgia always thought of others first, and opened her heart and home to all who had the pleasure to make her acquaintance. She was a devoted Christian with a grateful and giving heart.
LUMC high school seniors may apply for the scholarship in the spring of their senior year. The scholarship is awarded based on the student’s academic achievement, community service, and commitment to LUMC ministries. Selection of recipients is decided by the LUMW Scholarship Committee, and the award is presented on Graduation Sunday at LUMC.
The guidelines for the scholarship can be found here: Scholarship Guidelines

The Leesburg United Methodist Women welcome contributions to the Georgia W. Bange Scholarship fund in support of LUMC high school seniors. Donations to the fund may be made to Leesburg United Methodist Church with the memo of “GWB Scholarship”, and mailed to the address at the bottom of this page.
